You need snow birds on that roof to keep that from sliding like that....
Trust me. I actually injection moulded the snow stops for Steel Tile roof, that is the profile on my house roof. They are absolutely the LAST thing you want on a roof, keeping the snow from coming off. Especially for the folks that put them on one side, but not the other and then wonder why when the snow sheds from one side.. but not the other and then the walls collapse outward on the snow ladden side.
 
From the sky to the roof and the ground. You clear the the ground, so the snow on the roof can slide to the ground, so you can clear the ground again. Sounds like a cruel joke. If left on the ground next to and against the outside walls, I would think it would wick up on the inside. Nothing is perfectly sealed against moisture.

With that much snow, you'd never want it to stay up there. The weight would crush the place. Shoveling the roof is not fun. 12 pitch roofs are your friend, I would think.
