I walk 50 feet from my car to the door at work. These all found over the last 20 years. I won’t be in the office after dark and am armed when I go to lunch.

My son was a bricklayer. He ran a crew of about 30 and his last job was to help build the new home of the St. Louis Cardinals. Once a year or so he world go and do repairs on the building the rams football team played at, all brick. The repairs were bullet holes in the side that faced the projects, low income subsidized housing. At night they'd shoot at it from a distance. Have you ever heard the phrase, can't it the side of a barn............ He told me he always got the feeling they were watching him. Downtown St. Louis at its best.

One day I was downtown and asked a guy on the street for directions. As he started to walk towards me, I quickly realized I made a mistake. I put my Jeep in reverse and turned the wheels and had my weapon ready. When he got closer to my window, he reached in his pocket, I floored it and hit him with the front fender and ran over his feet. When I saw him hit the ground I pulled it into drive and headed straight for him. He crawled to the curb and I drove right up to him on my way the hell out of there. No guns were fired and when I looked in the mirror he was trying to get to his feet, up against the curb. Thank God for both of us that he made it to the curb, there's absolutely no doubt that I would have totally ran him over the second time. Not proud, just totally freaked out. They live among us...........
