I had several friend that had planes and flew quite a bit. I don't know about all the rules up in Canada, but they have so many take off and landing in so many days, I believe it was 90. I don't care how good of a mechanic people think they are, they don't allow a mechanic at your local car dealer to service a plane. Records on top of records. There are strict regulations set by aviation authorities on what paint to use. The guy across the street from me was an IT guy for boeing and a certified aircraft mechanic. Epoxy paint was his go to paint and I watched him do his mustang with it. After a few years of using it, it killed him. Following the rules was not his forte.

Hell I built it, I can use house paint if I want! LOL That said, it's painted with PPG 2 part epoxy urethane. Yesterdays touch ups came out of a can of Tremclad!

As for time, private or commercial pilot, you must have performed 6 take offs and landings in the previous 6 months before you can carry a passenger. Must have logged flight time within the previous 5 years or you lose your licence rights and have to take a "Pstar" exam. Hopefully tomorrow will be 1 of each.. well I guess either way I'm coming back down! Then to the lake.. that's two. Then I'll drive the neighbours nuts for an hour or so at camp doing touch and goes before I load my boat on the right float and have fun.

On Thursday I was trapped on a UAL 777 at Shanghai PVG with a mechanical issue on the starboard engine. For 6 hours total in the plane. About 3 hours in the Captain and FO came out and I asked them what was wrong. They really didn’t give me a clear answer so I asked if I could take a look at it before you crew all time out. Never did get it fixed so left on Friday in a different 777.
