I salvaged the power cord out of a VCR I found in the basement to install a garage door opener light that actually puts out some light.

Did you put a LED bulb in it? Awhile back I did and it would open with the remote, but after you pulled out it wouldn't shut since the bulb was on.

"LED light bulbs can interfere with garage door opener remote controls due to the radio frequencies they emit. This interference can limit the range of the remote, causing it to work intermittently or not at all".

Now they make garage door opener "friendly" LED bulbs.

Had a new garage door opener and have LED in garage. The trouble was new opener would open both doors once in a while, like every 3rd or 4th time. Had to quick blip the button half way out the door.

That side of the garage has a new opener. The sticker says that an LED bulb may reduce the range of the remote. My old neighbor owned a garage door company and told me years ago not to put LED bulbs in the openers I had. I still have two of those three openers.
