My mixed heritage includes Iroquois native (Seneca Tribe), Cherokee (before the Trail of Tears), French (Baroque region), and German (more accurately, Bavarian). I qualify for Native American Minority subsidies and other special treatment. I NEVER even applied for any of that crap. Why? Because I didn't suffer at the hands of those dead for over 100 years (that my ancestors endured), nor did I have to go through the immigration process (like other ancestors went through). As far as I'm concerned, I am an American -- first and foremost! Genetics of my ancestors has absolutely no effect on my current opportunities. That's just my personal opinion, yours may vary.

Are schools could do a better job of teaching American history, that's for sure.
Many parents could do a better job of teaching manners, but if my ancestors' tribulations gives you amusement, bless your heart
OUR schools could do a better job with grammar, too, apparently...

You conflate the terms "refugee", "immigrant", and "illegal immigrant". My grandparents were IMMIGRANTS, came legally, and became AMERICANS.

And that's what matters. AMERICANS.
