I can pretty much guaranty that the sockets, or pigtails, are NOT a one-of-none design. The accountants and engineers try to use off-the-shelf standards as much as possible.

They are actually pretty nice guys. I spoke with Terry (I think) last night when he called me about the steering column. All prices are negotiable he is just trying to get attention directed towards his ads. It is working. I asked about the steering column and he said $150 which I thought was reasonable.
