I have a 1972 dodge charger and it has a 8 1/4 rear axle, and i have a 8 3/4 rear axle out of a 73 sattilite i have heard that the holes on the housing that go into the studs on the leafs are a bigger diamiter and I am wondering if it is true and if so how do i make this work thanks

The 73 will have a much larger hole in the perch because of the Iso clamp on the 73-74 cars. I have had a spacer made in the past at a machine shop that took the big hole down to the smaller hole needed to go over the bolt head on the leaf spring.

how much larger do you remember my hole size in the 8 1/4 is 1/2" what size do i need made?

I could measure the perches I have at the shop on monday but if I remember it is around 2 inches

whats 2 inches the hole plate or the the hole that the spring stud goes into or the plate on the axle tube that sits on the spring or the plate from one end to the hole or from end to end on the plate or what not under standing cause i mesured the diamater of the hole that to stud on the spring goes into and its 1/2" and the plate is 2 1/2"s across and 6"s long all this is on the diff tube what im talking about

On a 73-74 rearend the hole is bout 2 inches in the perch where yours is 1/2 an inch

I have a 73 roadrunner that had that big hole in the axle and all i did when putting the 83/4 in was just find a big washer that fit and had the smaller hole in it then just tack welded it to the hole opening..worked like a charm and the washers is something we had laying around
