I know these adapters were not made for nor will fit a B-body package tray. Has anyone taken one and been able to successfully modify the installation to make it fit and function on a B-body?

Not on a 71-74, but that adapter marketed as being for E-Bodies will fit and work on a 70 B-Body. A spacer and a longer fastener can be used to secure the one leg of the adapter to the package tray. I may have reclocked the blower motor on its mounting plate for the hose to duct positioning.

I have on my 71, was not too difficult at all. I did make and weld in 1 small bracket underneath to support the adapter.

I think they were offered on 71-74 B’s? Like a S/E

I had an offset adapter on my 68 Cuda coupe. Bolted in, drilled one hole. And used long screw to stabilize the motor side of the adapter.

I had to extend the outlet tube.

I didn’t try hard since my car was being dissasembled for a deep body job, but on a first try I couldn’t. The rear bracket provision did meet with deck lid torsion bars as far I recall.

But it seems is posible per the 70Chall440 pics making that custom job.

It really was not hard at all, just had to make that bracket as I recall. I have one in my 73 Cuda as well and my 68 Cuda came with some form of rear window defogger but I have not looked into that all that hard yet. I have some more components for another rear window defogger system but I think it is for a C body.

Yeah it cleared ok.
Thanks for all the info.

On a different subject, what is the sound barrier/insulation brand you can see in the pictures you posted? Installing that is coming up on my "to do" list and with so many brands available wasn't sure which is a good one?
