Recently installed a new MP orange box eletronic distributor and new Blaster 2 coil. My '69 RR now runs like a raped ape. I need new wires and would like to replace the cam/lifters. Any suggestions for cam/lifters and wires would be appreciated. The motor is a '65 383 and 4 speed and has headers on it. Don't know if it has been bored or not. Have not taken the heads off.
Would like low-mid grunt. Not tooooooo lopey.
Thanks,
Kelly

The Accel 8mm wires that you cut to length work pretty good for me, although mine are ancient and I don't know if things have changed. I like the copper wire, but if you like listening to the radio, they might not be for you.

Do you know what cam is in there now?

A '65-383 engine? Do you know what it came out of by chance?

Regardless of it all, what gear ratio do you have in the car now and what size tires are on the car? This would help a bit in a cam selection.

It sounds like you just want a little more pep in your step without dealing with a major reprogramming of your car. In that case a very slight tweak on the cam will do wonders. Without knowing your actual compression ratio I'd suggest a cam with 112 lobe separation or maybe even 110 if it's a mild grind. I like the Mopar .455 / 272 in my 440. You will want to change the valve springs for whatever cam you use but keeping the lift in the mid to high .400" shouldn't put you into dangerous territory of valve train interference or other valve train related problems. Simple is good!

I like the MSD wires. They seem to hold up pretty good.
The Lunati Voodoo cam kits are nice for the money, but use a 3-bolt timing chain cam gear which I prefer over the single bolt setup.
The Comp XE series is very much like the Voodoo cams, but use the standard single bolt cam gear.

With a stock engine, intake, manifolds, and such, the Lunati 10230702LK (220/226 @ 0.050", 0.475"/0.494" lift, 112lsa/108cl) cam should work well. Cost $219 for cam and lifters.

The Comp Cams kit is CL21-222-4 ($220 for cam & lifters.) 218/224 @ 0.050", 0.462"/0.470" lift, 110lsa/106cl.

Fire Core 8mm plug wires and get rid of the Orange unit and get the Chrome one. The orange ones are prone to failure all the time....

Something in the 480 lift range give or take, mid to high 220s for duartion @.050 and a 112 LSA for the street. Since you have headers, I would stick with a single pattern cam.
