Redeemed Himself......

I was happy because the guy picked up. I was not seeking any praise. I pick up others' litter a lot & many times DO confront those I witness doing it, which has led to physical confrontation. Yesterday I did not have the motivation to get involved, so when the guy turned around & picked up after himself, he not only redeemed Himself, he redeemed me of my guilt for not inserting myself, so I was happy for both of us.
As for smoking, I tear the filters off & toss them in a trash bin or my pocket if a bin is not available so the butt of the smoke is just a little tobacco & paper & grind it out,,,easily bio-degraded. For the last 10 months I have kept my habit to between 5 - 7 cigarettes a day. My lungs are clear, I do not hack up, cough or wheeze. I have quit 3 times for extended periods of time(the last for 4 1/2 years)& I will do it again. There has been a lot of stress, frustration & boredom as of late & smoking sorta fills the gaps for now. Since I had to move I lost my shop & haven't been able to do any blade cutting.

I'm being confronted with having to move and just look at all the stuff in my shop and get depressed. Hopefully something will come up that I can move into that has at least a decent sized garage.

So how does this thread go from “littering” to “ya gotta quick smoking”?

The vast majority of smokers just throw their butts on the ground, now isn't that littering? Now if Jimmy's just dropping them like everybody else, then we have a right to bitch about this smoking! After all this is about littering, isn't it?

Bad things happen when one assumes like you just did.
Read BC's most recent post above - then make nice with him.

I said within my second post that I tear the filters off my cigarettes(before I smoke them) & either deposit them in a trash receptacle or my pocket, therefore IF I grind the non filtered butt on the ground, it's just a little bit of tobacco & paper which is quickly biodegraded. The filter is the item that takes 18 months to 10 years to decompose. So sue me.

No job more stinking or redicules than having to picking up cigaret filters.
I still remember - if you have'en smoken but by god leave no butts.

Same thing here. Rub the paper into the ground for good measure - it damn near disappears that way.

Damn, everyone being so judgmental on our boy!
KD! No, BC smoking does NOT equate to someone handing out candy to kids out of a van. Good grief, man!
I know one thing - if you want to encourage someone you care about to quit, badgering is not an effective method.

It's his choice and I'm sure he's well aware of the risks.
Y'all might try being a little less sanctimonious....
The way I see it, he's more than earned that smoke, given what he's been through.
Yes....I'd know.

I'm just thinking, All Jimi has been through AND his financial Situation and all...he's buying:
1. Tobacco and rolling his own, (Costly) and not healthy.
2. Buying cigarettes, WAY too costly (California $9.00 per pack) and Not Healthy!

Gee, quit already Jimi!
Your life depends on it...

That is looking at the situation through the eyes of a man who started smoking immediately after his own recent operation....where he was advised not to smoke.

I'm sorry guys!
To me, Smoking is filthy!
I have NEVER EVER smoked a Cigarette.

If you do, OK
I just think it actually stinks, smells terrible and what is the point of it..?

Well I have to say in Jimi's defense that the 2nd hand smell DOES smell heavenly. Know how hard it is Jimi!

Well, to be fair, it is only $2-3 per day for what he uses. But still...come on Jimi - with that fine hat and beard, you should be puffing on a pipe. :)

At burnin 5-7 a day, he might as well give it up as he's basically there now.

It's an indefensible habit - but it doesn't make one criminal or immoral or anything like that.
I'll never condemn anyone over it. There's plenty of REAL stuff to get upset with people over as it is.
Sue me. Hate me. Whatever.

Seems like more of an addiction...which is a lot harder to break than a habit.:)
I don't buy into "addictions". Never have. That word indicates that we're not in control of a situation, that we simply MUST serve
whatever the addiction is without choice.
That's horseshit - we're humans and as such, we have free will and are not remote controlled by some power beyond our own.

Now, is there a physical craving for the nicotine? Damn straight there is.
Is it difficult to wean ones' self off of said craving? Bet your ***, reportedly harder than even breaking a heroin thing.
But bottom line is those of us who choose to smoke are doing so of our own free will.
If one wants to stop an activity strongly enough, they can.
Again...

I'm done with this.
Out.

Anyone that wants to quit, will. They just need to be more determined to quit than the desire to have a smoke

How many of y'all ripping on me drink alcohol?? I quit 26 1/2 years ago. I could go nanner nanner telling what one should & shouldn't do but I don't. It's between me & God. MYOB comes to mind.

Boy, is there ever one contradiction after another in your post. And you manage to pull it off about three times here. You need to rethink your thinkin on what you post. There's so much contradiction, I can't figure out what your trying to say!
