Remember The Days Before Political Correctness and Snowflakes?

I worked my *** of mowing lawns & 2 paper routes
just to get a Schwinn $79 IIRC, 1970-ish 2 summers of work...
I was happy to do it too...
My mom & dad were working class couldn't afford it,
8 kids etc.{3 boys 5 girls/blended family } my step father Bob
was just a Union Pipefitter, unemployed 6 months of the year
constantly, my mom was a sewer for a Capwells {?} bra company...

Green Pea-Picker was cool as hell,
here's a Grannysmith Apple crate, very similar

Anyone remember the ram-horn, looped handle bars ?
loved the green metal-flake seats, tall sissy-bars,
with a reflectors on the back & great green candy paint
with a ball buster 5 speed shifter, right where your nuts would land :BangHead:

Also putting playing card on your frame, with wood closes-line clips
& cards into the spokes, to make motorcycle sounds

we jumped everything in sight, even our neighbor kids

it was fun as hell, you couldn't hardly keep US indoors,
I was out from sunup to sunset & beyond...

Kids weren't fat lard asses anywhere near as much back then

AWE THE GREAT MEMORIES, I was 10 in 1969
between bikes & the Apollo 11 July 20th Moon landing
{8 days after my 10th B-day}
I thought the world/EARTH was the greatest place to be alive...

Budnicks my kids had those bikes in late 70's - I was driving the Bee by then! Lol

Speaking of pedal bikes.......did any one else cut the forks off one or two bikes and weld them on as extensions to make a chopper?! I remember what happens if you don't weld them!!!

I found one! Ah the good old days when you were accountable for your actions........including pulling a wheelie and having the un-welded forks depart your bike! Man that hurt! :)

PC = not saying something to someone, even tho every fiber of you wants to.
because,if you did, thered be a lynch mob waiting for you speaking your mind.

i find myself being politically correct sometimes reading these threads and Not commenting .
gawd, sure do miss the old Daze.

meh,not worth the firestorm that would follow.
people care more about popularity than they do about doing the right thing.

just one example.
most regs think a certain person is cool, even tho he didnt know what parts went on His car,
had Me research it,made a Deal,Paid me,>> and then insisted on His form of shipping,
and refused to pay the difference after i shipped it and pointed it out to him.
for the finale~,this person then didnt leave any feedback for me,
even tho i left his as soon as he paid for the part/w normal shipping, that is.

so,thats why i no longer sell parts here,
and why i dont speak my mind about some of the bs that goes on here.

dont get me wrong,i love the site and most of the people.
but, some people just dont care,as long as they get what they wanted.

I always heard the term snowflake meant every kid is special, unique therefore valuable. I used to go into the sporting goods store and sit on the the Krate Bikes. They were $110. Might as well have been a million. I bought a used regular Sting Ray for $5. Then I bought a used Schwinn Varsity for $15. That was right before the 10-speed craze hit. Man was I cool.

What in the wide wide world of sports is going on here?

All my siblings are of average height.
So I got hand me ups to ware.
Mom would buy my brothers new jeans once a year, and cut out the pockets.
That way it was a dual gift .
New pants, and something to play with. .:realcrazy:
