Very minor wear that I can feel with my fingers, but enough to make me know it’s there. Any recommendations for a replacement? Also anyone want to steer me in the direction of a good pinion seal?

Thanks

When it has minor wear, I just polish it with some fine paper. 3m blue grit 320 grit utility cloth roll has worked fine for me for 30+ years. You can do it by hand but having a lathe with a mandrel to put it on helps a lot.....and the ready sleeves work well to if you can get it on without messing it up lol

If you go the sleeve route the cup they supply to drive it on needs a block of on top of cup. Used a 2 pound hammer to hit the block of wood on top of cup. Had to hit it harder than I expected, cup wouldn't survive without wooden block.

The only one I tried, I used a press but not a block of wood. Right now I have a Dana 70 yoke that has a fairly deep groove and I'm thinking of either making a .050" spacer to go behind it or machining off .050 from it....

Don't have a press since I retired. I miss the equipment at my old job.

I've had a 12 ton for a number of years but miss the steel shot blaster at work the most lol....along with the horizontal boring mill and the 20" Lodge and Shipley variable speed lathe that I ran for a number of years. Imo, it was one of the best engine lathes there. Man, that machine was cool even though my thoughts about it were not that high when it was first brought into the shop. And this is the yoke that just got done polishing. The seal seems to fit it pretty good after taking off several .001's......there's still a groove but at least it's smooth. Never did one this much before so we'll see. At least it won't be that hard to do over if it does leak..

Nice work ! Thanks for the replies. Just ordered a sleeve, pinion nut & washer, and correct seal from Denny’s Driveshaft. I don’t have a press so looks like it’s back to the tried and true block of wood. Thanks for the help.
