Road Runner Dilema

Yep, just went through this with the last car. Learned a few things from it and more than just how to do body work :)

I couldn't buy a project without having a driver!!! I wanna drive :3gears:

I have a 97 BMW 740il for my driver right now.. will be selling it as soon as I get another car running..LOL Car is just about pristine as well.. Interior is a 10 and the exterior just needs a cut and buff and its a 9

Leaning towards the 71 at this point. I'm going to take a 7 hr ride to check it out first.. UNLESS I can get the 68 Charger cheap enough.
The 71 car is the most complete, the 68 needs a tone of work but has a ton of parts that go with so it depends on how low they are willing to go on it.

Both are going to need a drive train but the 71 comes with a 66" 383 non running none assembled engine.
Listing it all out the 69 RR is worth more money then the 71 and then the 68 Charger. thye made a ton of them is all I can think of, the 71 RR looks to be the least produced. The 69 I need ot call the guy but it looking like a long shot due to the amount of parts it will need and the transportation costs. The more I pay initially the less i have to spend on it.

The 68 comes with :Some body work has been done already & does include the following parts:
2 quarter panels; Trunk extensions; Trunk floor; Outer Wheel housings; Front & Rear valance; Rear Sail panels; PST bushing & Front End Suspension kit w/torsion bars; Original Grill & a Replacement Grill; Tailights; Side Glass; Flip top Gas Cap; Rust Free Floor Pans; Original Seats & Dash;

I would like to get the 68 but I need someone to go look at it first for me

aw whatcha want an old '71 for?:icon_wink: Here's a shot of my buddy's. '71 would be my choice after '68/69.

still no decisions have been made...LOL

money wise the 71 is the best route to go at this point and will require the least amount of sheet metal and is fairly complete. Its only 3000 to my door. The 68 Charger is 5k to my door and another 69 RR is 4500 to my door but a 4 speed and fairly complete interior but will need sheet metal. The other 69 is 3900 and the least complete of all but already blasted and primed

The 64 Polara is a runner already but wont budge from 3k...

So I sit on the money for now...LOL it wont grow without me selling something else and I'm down to one running car so I cant really cut the limb out from under myself...LOL I could trade down to make more money so to speak but finidng something I want to drive in the 1000-2000 range is a challenge.

Another budget tip for ya............Speaking of lists, Make your list of parts/services costs-needs for the prospective car, Multiply it by three...should get you pretty close to what it's actually gonna cost and parts needed.

A whole pile of wizdom in those words.

Leaning towards a 64 Polara 2 dr and a Disneyland vacation for the kids. If I can sell my diamond ring then maybe I can get the Roarunner and Vacation...LOL But it was bought as an investment and it might be a good time to sell. Gold was cheap back when I had it made.

that one looks pretty good. If I was looking that would be on the list for sure. a few tweaks and be good to go.
