I never had an account at rockauto and always just used a code I got off of retailmenot dot com...but lately those codes wouldn't work for me. I too had a big order...over $500 and wanted that 5% discount and the only way I was able to get a working discount code was to sign up for an account and use the code generated in my account settings.
