going to buy full exhaust from this guy. He has a running 318 asking 800. He bought a 69 charger from Cali and pull it out for BB. Said ran good did not burn oil. Im thinking 500. Your thoughts please. I already have a 318 but need it put together and broken in. I feel with the 4 barrel carb, intake and headers I would have to spend that on my engine. Chrysler 318 small block

In stock form, the 318 was a low performance engine but that was because it was designed to be durable and economical. The camshaft lift was a mere .373"! You could plug the intake ports with a popsicle stick. It was the opposite of a MAX wedge, it was a Minimum Wedge.
Now....Put a decent cam in it, use better heads and intake and they can really run.
I used to give away slant sixes and 318s but as they have thinned out, there are fewer of them so the value has gone up.
It would cost far more than $800 to buy and rebuild one. If is a low mile rebuild, $500 may be a low ball offer but who knows....the seller may bite.

Maybe I see the corner of the bracket for the power steering pump? Does it come with the power steering brackets and pump?

Ask him if he has a right-angle oil filter adapter to go with the engine/header combo.

The engine is red. Is it from a 1968 car?

The Weiand is a single plane intake. I don't believe it's going to be good for low end performance.

People tend to use too large of a carburetor. What is the CFM on this $800 engine?

The engine was running well when pulled out about two months ago. The 904 transmission DOES need work. I was told it needs a torque converter but I don’t know. Will separate as follows:Engine $800Trans: $200Exhaust: 200

I am going over tomorrow for the exhaust, will look at the engine. Will get the numbers off of the block. I think he used the ps pump on his bb engine.

Ask if you can pull the valve covers and take a look.
Also see if you can put a bar on it and turn it over a couple times.
You can at least check to see if it feels like compression on each cylinder.
There's quite a bit there I don't think he's asking too much.
He'll likely take 750 without hesitation.

I wouldn’t offer him more than $1,000 for everything. Maybe he'll accept $800 for everything?

I don't know if the exhaust pipes/system is going to fit your Charger. Don't forget to check the header flanges for flatness.

You already know what I think about Facebook Marketplace.

Good luck!

Why didn't you get the 318?

Mine is machined and ready to go,. I have a 340 intake and 600 cfm carb. He does not know the history on the engine. I told him I would check on it and see if he got offers on it. $500 is as high as I will go with no history.
