The tiny boat makes the bass appear larger in photos.

We usually fish for Walleye at Cape Vincent this is probably the largest smallmouth I've ever caught.
I didn't keep it but I've kept others and they are delicious out of the St. Lawrence River.
Likely fattened up on a steady diet of Goby.

my nephew goes up your way for smallmouth at least once a year..... he's always texting me pics like that one ^^^^^

the one I posted was just over 4 pounds..... I've caught several over 6 pounds locally...... if they aren't biting, I simply go home

So, the big question-

How tasty are they?

Caught this bugger up in the boundary waters a few years ago...

Don't go much for bass. Walleye, Perch and Crappie are my jam.

I go with my son to the boundary waters almost every year, just a beautiful place. We catch Bass, Walleye, and as far as eating I really like northern pike.
Which Lake? This year was the first in 10 straight we did not go. Stupid work. lol

Crappie is my favorite.

Kind of looks like half bass and half perch

the bottom one looks like it was merged with a striper......a salt water variety people around here like to catch, they work their up the rivers a certain time of year...... 3-4 ft long is common

yeah, maybe some cross breed bass ?
black bass (darker with stripes vertically) & small mouth bass etc.
South & Central (?) America has the yellow & tiger stripped bass in fresh water
looks sort of like them too, these examples are just way smaller/lil'

Fresh mountain elevation stream/lakes Trout's my gig,
best fight pre weight,
much like silver salmon or steelhead too

I loved catching bluegills (perch),
great lil' fighters like other breeds of Perch & Crappie
as a kid Mt. Muphy Lake, Garden Valley (more like a big cattle pond)
I caught a thousand (?) over the years
fed mostly to my pig/s, especially my FFA fair pig Pacilio in HS (Yorkshire)
named after the former El Dorado Co. sheriff, Dave Pacilio, a friend of my dad's,
from Georgetown Stump Jumpers, Jeep Club
I used his reelection campaign sign to build the pen
put the bluegill in live, the pig/s would root around in the water trough,
come up with tails sticking out
crunchy
