In today's time there seems to be a lot of negative experiences people have with companies. I would think in our economic low that All companies should be concentrating heavily on making the customers happy. Customer satisfaction equals good customer base. So with that in mind let's share our positive experiences with who we've dealt with and help out those who help us! Let's get a good base of positive companies companies to deal with.
With that in mind I've been very satisfied with all my dealings with Don at FBO ( 4secondsflat.com ). He has taken a lot of time to answer even my most lame questions. They also invest a lot of time to find companies that are in the U.S. And are made with local materials, instead of chineese.
The people over at Competition cams have been great too.

I'll start with Dennys Driveshaft. www.dennysdriveshaft.com I ordered some stuff on-line for my 95 Ram for wheel joints, and parts for the front shaft double-cardan joint. The guy packing the order knew that some of the parts would not be right if they were being used for the same application. So, instead of just filling the order like a robot, he picked-up the phone and called me! He confirmed what I was using it for, and corrected the order to the right parts! I'm a customer for life for them.
It's a shame that bad news travels faster than good news. There are so many un-sung great guys out there that are just happy to do a good job every day! And then there are Bastards that have no conscience. Thats OK, I BELIEVE IN KARMA! Or at least a SPECIAL place in HELL!

Backing out of the garage last Saturday I knocked the driver sid powered remote mirror off my daily driver, 2006 Pontiac Vibe. I was thinking $150 or more for a new one and dreaded combing the boneyards for a cheap used one. Rock Auto had one for $32 brand new, I paid $42 including shipping. Ordered it Saturday promised within 8 business days, it came via FedEx on Wednesday, or third business day later. I had it on in 20 minutes. I've always had good service ordering parts from them.

Ive mentioned before about Year One and told folks how i was treated and they are good and stand behind anything they sell. Going thru some papers i found something that i thought i lost, Any thing new i bought when i was doing my Satty 99 percent came from Year One. The last thing i bought was a set of K-Frame bushings, I couldn't find them anywhere in the catalog i had so i called them and lucked out with a guy named Michael who told me they had them there just not where there supposed to be, he looked them up and they did have them and on a page like he said they shouldn't have been. One other thing they didn't carry so he gave me a name and number and told me to mention his name and he would help me out... So If anyone uses Year One remember Michael and just ask for extension 5129 if you call them. He told me hes been there for years and helped a lot of guys out like this, if they don't have what your looking for he will give you someone to call that might be able to help.

California Car cover co. Bought a custom fit cover....really nice....3 years later a seam split...saw cali cover display at Back to the Fifties in Minneapolis and told the rep. my story. At first he said I was out of luck, then went to his computer records and said "your cover is under warranty. Long story short...they sent me a new one with a new warranty, pretty cool.

Passion4Mopars - Kim just fixed me up with a new wiper motor that works as good as it works, and she answered all my q's quickly.

Metro Rubber - all made in the USA, and no issues with either the trunk weather strip I installed, or my RR's front bumper's rubber trim.

M&H Wiring - I've installed a number of these on different cars, past and present, and they look perfect (terminals, wire colors, etc), and they have a good tech line, too.

Evans Wiring - I had them custom make an engine harness for me to include an extra power wire for my electric choke.

Year One - expensive if you buy without one of their sales, but the no hassle return policy rocks! FYI I've returned stuff I had for over a year, that I never used, and no questions asked.

California Car Cover - I wasn't sure which material to go with, and they sent me actual samples of the material in the mail to compare before I ordered.

I have had excellent luck using Rockauto.com. Their parts are very very reasonably priced as well as shipping is fast and cheap. I bought sherman patch panels for a fraction of the cost elsewhere and they fit just right and shipping was less than $10. Also their is ALWAYS a 5% discount code floating around the net if they didn't send it to you already. (just google for it and it will cover your shipping)

I have also had good luck ordering random things from Amazon.com. I got a bum gauge and no questions asked was refunded through Amazon with their return policy/satisfaction guarantee.

I had ordered some date coded plug wires for my '65 Formula "S" from Herb's Parts. They came in just a few days but were the wrong ones. I called them, don't remember who I talked to, but they said they would e-mail a return shipping label to me, got it the same day. I wasn't able to get them mailed for a few days but they had already drop shipped the correct ones from their supplier. I always get the parts quickly from them.

Without a doubt, the best positive buying experiences I have had over the years have been with every day normal car guys, like most of the folks on this site.

On the other side of the spectrum (and by far) comes all the negative experiences I've had dealing with actual businesses dealing in collector/classic car parts and services. I would say almost 50% of the time in dealing with a company, there's gonna be wrong parts sent, missing parts, not what was advertised, misbilling, poor customer service, messages not returned, ect...ect... During my current restoration, it has got to the point where i've seriously thought about ending my hobby into restoring cars because i'm so sick and tired of dealing with all the headaches and worries of battling with companies and their rude, lazy, greedy, dishonest, ignorant, arrogant employee's who really don't give a crap.

To get to the point and quit bitching, there are several companies that come to mind that have been great to deal with over the years....

Jeff at 521 restorations has been outstanding to deal with.....

Rock Auto never missed a beat....

Roseville Moparts has been great to me...

Herbs has also been great...

A couple online places I've had good luck with for other odds and ends,

Tooltopia and TCP Global have treated me good for tools, consumables and equipment.

If I was to list all the companies i've had issues with, i'd be adding about two pages to this thread...................

A shout out here to Legendary Auto Interiors. When I ordered the seat covers for the SF,the piping was incorrect in one spot. Called them, explained the situation. They had the covers picked up at my place, shipped back to them, repair done, and sent back to me. AT THEIR COST!!! They will get my biz for all my interior needs;plus, their product is MADE HERE!!! Excellent quality product, and great folks to deal with.:headbang:

This is a great idea for a thread. I will be checking this over next time I buy parts.

Glad people believe the thread is good and positive. We need to support those who still believe in good customer service.
Just a thought, maybe we could get a forum or thread started for people to go to when they need suggestions of what company to use when they are looking for parts. Or we could just use this thread and people could simply post questions of where to go.
Well good luck with all your projects guys!

Heck, speaking of which, I'm looking for (economical) suggestions of where to go for one of those lower profile wide superstock hood scoop. I'm putting one on my '66 belvedere. This is simply a hot rod, not a show car, unless you like satin black street bruisers for show cars, lol.
Thanks.

Kim @ Passion4mopars was great as was Tom @ Steer & Gear and Bob from Herb's. I have had no bad experiences with Year One except for their outragous shipping charges.

Suggestion!

Hmm, I sopose I could do that. At least ask right? Thanks for the suggestion.

I have had good experiences with Bill Rolik Enterprises NJ ... I ordered some cooling parts. He call me back on my order, I order incorrectly. Their parts are very reasonably priced as well as shipping....
