What’s the deal with the various Sheetmetal vendors out there? I’ve read that AMD is the best but they can’t supply what I need right now. It appears Classic sells AMD and OER. There’s Stephen’s and perhaps more. I’m just starting the restoration and need some advice.

Thanks,

I recently needed (desperately) both front inner fenders for my 69RR. NOBODY had both. Stephens - who I've always dealt with - had one (AMD) and YearOne had the other. But I didn't realize that YearOne doesn't sell AMD, they sell another brand. I was a little pissed but the piece looked ok and the thickness was correct. As it turns out, the one from YearOne was a WAY better fit than the AMD.

I've bought AMD exclusively - full quarters, floor, cowl, cowl brackets, rear crossmember/valance and extensions, rad support, inner front fenders. Honestly ... NOTHING fit without some sort of significant tweaking and even then the fit isn't as good as original.

My suggestion after a lot of part replacement ... replace only those sections that need replacing - avoid full panel replacement. Wherever you can, find good original panels or portions you need.

Did some pre-project browsing recently myself. AMD directed me to CI. And CI indicates to check back at a later date for availability. Not feeling very confident at the moment. I'm liking @gkent's suggestion.

call Amd every week, dont look online.

Try Jim Kramer. I think he bought up a lot of AMD's inventory.
