Shop Tips and Storage Tricks

Holy crap, it's an hour long!

How much did he spend on tool chests? Looks like $$$$.

I know some of you won't watch a video more than 10 minutes. This one is not for you. Unless, you get sick and all you have to do is sleep, eat and watch TV. In that case, just put the long ones in the YouTube Watch Later que.

He bought the Snap On boxes used like any sane person would.

Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed it. I fully agree with the idea that it saves time to be organized. I have worked in shops that were disorganized and ones that were well organized and I always found it much faster to do anything in the organized shop. There were some interesting ideas that I am going to look at implementing in my shop. I have electrical extension cords dropped down from reels on the ceiling and they are great. At some point I will get around to mounting air hoses up there as well. Not having the cords and hoses on the floor is really nice. Cheers!

Thanks for posting the video. I have some of these elements incorporated in my garage, but no where near what this guy has done. What a nice workshop!
Each of my sockets and wrenches have a place, but other of my drawers are more packed. I will say, if I had a 18 x 30 workshop, I could be much better organized too! My work garage is 15 x 30 and has a lift, two cars AND my work area. The limited space means you can't cut out foam and have 10 vice grip in an entire drawer - I need a lot more stuff in each of my tool drawers because I don't have room for more tool chests!

To his point about taking care of your tools like a screwdriver. One of my more popular drawers is my "Beaters" drawer. In there, I have old screwdrivers, punches, pry bars, etc. You get the idea. I find I use this drawer all the time, especially with old cars! AND I don't worry about messing up my nice screw drivers either.

Another thing I have done is I have a small room (6 x 10) that is what I call my "slop room". I have hanging plastic curtains you can walk through to separate it from the other part of my garage. In there, I do really dirty things like painting, grinding, washing, bead blasting, etc. I find that really helps keep the mess out of my main garage and I also don't worry about messing up that room so much.

As this guy has shown, there is a lot more to do to get organized! Lots of great ideas!
