The situation:

I just bought a 71 Superbee off of a forum member, and I've got a '72 Rallye Charger already. The '72 ain't much at all, from the firewall to the rear bumper exists on the car but that's it. Good glass, solid frame...

But my 71 Superbee needs body work it's self, and there is some things I can cut off from the '72 to save money on my '71 Superbee. Like the driver's side rocker panel, trunk pan and wheel houses and pieces from the inner fenders for patching.

This is assuming I don't sell the '72 Charger before I take deliver of my Superbee...

What do you think? Should I go ahead and cut up whats left of the '72 or just sell it and buy the panels and pans for my Superbee?

Finding less and less Chargers around, would hate to trash it for parts that can be purchased. I know people up north here that would kill for a body like that.

I'd hate to cut it up myself too, but either I need to sell it or use what I can from it.

What was the original motor in that 72?

If you were closer, I'd trade you some 73/74 parts (rockers and trunk floor, etc) and some cash for it.

Looks like it was EV2.

400 Ci, according to the Vin.

Then you should post some more details if you can and probably pics of interior and frame rails.

Do you have a title (assume so) fender tag? Assume it's auto. What are the interior options that are left in it / what shape are the in. Also what would you be wanting to get for it to make it worth your while to sell the car vs parting? The Rally doors and taillights should be desirable as well as other good stuff left like interior / glass.

try and sell it upto your time constraints.if there are no bites, cut it up and part out whats left.its prety rough, but you never know untill you try.

I would say sell it and buy new metal. It looks like there is some rust showing and will surely be more once you cut it apart. I have a feeling you would be patching/repairing things to be decent enough for your car.

I have the title, it is registered to me. As far as I can tell it's an automatic car, the steering column I have is column shift. No fender tag, the frame looks to be in good shape. There is no interior other than door panels and dash, and the back of the rear seat. All the glass is there except for the side windows, the rest of the glass is in good shape.

The passenger quarter panel needs patched on the bottom in front of the wheel.

I'm asking $1,000 just to get what I paid out of it. I got a guy wanting it, but he hasn't acted on anything yet other than a number of phone calls.

Other than the floor pan, every other part I would need from this car for my 71 is solid as a rock. Most of the rust seems to be localized to the front floor pans. There are a 3 places that I've spotted on the car since I've had it that has been "stop signed".

The doors are worth close to 1000 by themselves.

Tail lights about 3-400.

I created the thread to bounce ideas around in case our deal doesn't go through, I told you that. I've been holding onto the car for you for over a month without even so much as a deposit, and have even turned away potential buyers because I had promised the car to you. But much like Matt's situation with the Superbee, I won't be able to hold onto the car forever cos it's sitting on what is now my Uncle's property; and we don't get along, the day he starts complaining the car will have to become first come first serve because I have no other places to store it.

Hell, I even offered to take $200 off the price if you came and got it by the end of this month so I could get my superbee home.

The car has not been posted in the "for sale" area, so please don't go trying to guilt trip me yet.

As Per Jaymie (Loneagle) : Not trying to guilt anyone into anything.I told you the situation with my daughter. I didn't tell you what I was going to the car but the simple fact is it doesn't matter. The person the car is for a lot of people know (even those that were banned). I am trying to help Cliff (me) including doing most of the work for him, BECAUSE HE CAN'T DUE TO HEALTH. I am offer a trade of parts for the car since I have them and don't need them, and then everyone is happy....

I am Cliff,Jaymie is a good friend of mine that is willing to a great thing for me. So I can have the car of my dreams. Jaymie willing to do the work that I can't he and other B Bodies members have helped me before, in other instances.

Have Jaymie to call me tomorrow and clarify what exactly he wants to do.

Wow, seems like there's more brewing here than was originally let on.

If you're referring to me stating what I believed the parts values to be-

When a member posts a thread indicating he's selling a car for less than what it's worth, and we assume it's to a non-member, because he hasn't specified, I think it's our duty to help on the value.

If he's selling it to you for a "good deal" because you are helping him out on a different project, then that's a different situation altogether.

...and now I'll butt out.

parts, just like whole cars. are only worth what that one guy is willing to pay for them
