Looking for how to suggestions on replace the chrome plate piece for the slap stik shifter assembly. I see many places have reproduction pieces available and also the lens if needed. Other than drilling through the pins to remove the old chrome piece, is there any other way to do this? Its a five piece assembly; chrome plate, black plastic shift slider, lens, mount plate, and light holder. If drilling is the answer to get the old one apart, once the new chrome piece is installed with the rest of the parts, how do you re-secure the sandwich of pieces and keep them together?

You drill out the old rivots or welds or whatever they are on the underneath of the piece. The new chrome bezel gets screwed on instead of riveted or welded on

ChargerFan is correct, I ordered one, that is exactly what you have to do. Be sure to not drill too big.

Is the new top plate drilled and taped already?
