Soft lok clutch question

Does anyone know if you need the over center spring installed when using a McLeod soft lok clutch?

Is it a diaphragm or borg and beck style clutch?

Most diaphragm clutches recommend you take the over centre spring out.

I know it's not a diaphragm( I know what that one looks like). the soft lok has 3 fingers... is that considered Borg and Beck or is that considered ford long? or are they both the same? you'll have to excuse my ignorance
