I have done a search and didn't have anything come up.

I am in the process of installing the rear end in my 64 Belvedere. It will occasionally see time at the drag strip, but spend most of its time on the street. The current plan is to run a 4 speed transmission. What are ya'lls opinions on using rear solid spring bushings in the front eye of the rear leaf springs and using brass shackle bushings? Are they worth the money spent? How do they affect street driving?

I'm running aluminum front eye bushings (greased) with poly shackle bushings in my Cal Trac mono leaf springs. Seems to work OK.

I noticed a big difference in street driving. The rearend seemed to be tighter a lot less rear end movement. Especially on our wonderful Michigan roads. My biggest improvement was spring sliders.

I've run this combo on the street in mi for the last 17 years I love it

Got them in mine and on the street I could hear them clunk at times, most notably when shifting into drive.

I ran solid aluminum bushings in my SS Springs and now in my Cal-Trac split monos. No issues on the street.

I also run them w/my caltracs w/o any issues. Going on 4 yrs now..
493mike what yr is your wagon? Looks nice.

I’ll add one more to the list...... I run the Calvert full meal deal with aluminum spring-eye bushings on the street, no issues at all. I currently run stock shackles, but have considered sliders to be one of the next things I’m likely to do to the car.

1966. Thank you. I bought it in 1981, it was being used as a dog kennel.

I have looked into sliders also. Please report on performance if you do install them. Thanks!

We run sliders from Speedway along with Cal-Tracks on my sons 62 Savoy. Though they fit a little loose they aren't really noisy. Street driven with no issue.

Did you notice much difference between the sliders and the shackles?

I have made all solid aluminum bushings on my 70' Challenger. The Caltracs came with the front solid bushings. I made & added the rears on the leaf spring shackles.

We did this on my buddies Fox Body 86' Mustang with an 8.8 on the upper & lower control arms also & yes it rides worse than a one ton truck for stiffness.

It's been very consistent with the sliders, Cal Tracks, and Mencer shocks. We bracket race it. Turbo car on radials. Goes rounds very well.

My bushing have come in from Mancini Racing. What type grease are ya'll using on your solid bushings?
Graphite?
White lithium?
Standard Moly bearing grease?

I used antisieze on mine.

I'm using 3M Silicone Paste at the suggestion of another member. Really great stuff. I used to use anti-seize but found that it migrated to the bottom of the space and didn't keep the bushing lubed for very long.
