With California banning the sale of ICE
vehicles starting in 2035 ( a mere 12
years from now), what would be the sense
of promoting manufacturer brands when
it comes to NASCAR. It used to be race them
on Sunday, buy 'em on Monday.
Comparing ICE to EV is apples to
oranges.
With an EV, there is really no brand
separation other than style and a name.
Build quality always plays a hand but there
will no longer be the debates as to who
builds the most bad-*** ICE V-8's. The
426 Hemi, 428 SCJ, or the 427's.
I can't see anyone touting the prowess of
the power behind their DC motors.
Convenience I believe, will now become
the deciding factor. How fast will it charge,
and how far can it go.
The 500 mile races in an EV (given current
technology) in NASCAR would be virtually
impossible without rapid charge rates, or
even complete battery changes (in less
than 15 seconds). The 'big' wrecks would
see cars on fire, with no way to extinguish.
I know NASCAR strayed from the true brand
years ago, with powertrains built by
private corporations nowadays.
I still watch the races, but will admit the
pride once felt between the different
manufacturers has waned a bit.
I see NASCAR slowly dying on the
vine.
I consider myself lucky, being a boomer
as I got to live during a time that displayed
Americas' greatness. From moon landings
to RP's victories.
0 to 60 no longer means a damn thing.

I wondered what was the fastest EV Formula One car. It's not easy to get any information and it appears, after much discussion, EV's won't compete against gas cars for a few more years.

I never did come up with an answer of speed and the agreement itself is confusing.

Being a good American, I think: Conspiracy. It must be about the money and long range plans that aren't done profiting yet.

Is there "no difference" between DeWalt, Porter Cable, Crafstman, Ryobi, etc when it comes to battery powered drills and other tools?

As stated.....
Quality which is usually synonymous
with a name.

Sam,
Thanks for the reply.
I had a friend who was running EV dragsters
on the track. He did surprisingly well. This
was way back when the technology for the
application was basically experimental.
He carted around 3 batteries for his car.
Two would be used up after a day of
competing, the 3rd used as back-up,
as there wasn't enough time to charge
them fully between runs.
It seems as though you've done some
research. I'd be interested to know what
limitations are placed on the EV Formula One
cars are as far as speed is concerned,
and compare that to NASCAR and the
use of restrictor plates to keep the cars
slowed down.
The 426's and 429's of the day were
awesome engines. (not motors).
