Yesterday I was road testing my car after finally getting the brakes bugs all worked out. While I was slowing to turn into the driveway my oil pressure went to zero. I immediately killed the engine and rolled into my drive, put in park fired it up again and had full pressure back. Any ideas?

I’d pull the drive gear and make sure the hex isn’t rounded. Usually they snap when they fail.
I put a new one in it along with a new bushing when I built it. It doesn't have 500 miles on it.

I have seen that happen on high mileage cars that never had the oil changed. The pickup gets clogged, then it clears a bit. But I’m pretty sure you keep after your oil.

Absolutely

Do you have one of those long hex drive shafts Direct Connection used to sell? You could turn the pump with a drill, and with the valve cover, or intake off you can verify oil getting to the top.

Nice thing about a BB Mopar... it’s easy to change the oil pump. You could also take it apart and rebuild it yourself.

oops! I assumed it’s a big block!

The pump after removal?

Oil pumps don’t cost that much. You might want to replace it for safety sake.

It's new also, i might replace it.

Chrysler used to sell that long hex to prime a new build or an engine that has been sitting. A welder could make you one.

I'm going to be in there anyway next week, I'm gonna install a March serpentine setup on it.

How hard were you on the brakes? I've lost oil pressure after a WOT run when I got on the brakes hard....

WOT pumps allot of oil out of the pan then you jump on the brakes & what oil is still in the pan sloshes forward & the pickup sucks air... Oil pressure drops to zero & takes a few seconds to recover...
