In the new pump did you put any heavy oil or white lube to seal pump inside? If there's light oil may not suck the oil out of the pan.
No just enough 10/30 to make it wet.In the new pump did you put any heavy oil or white lube to seal pump inside? If there's light oil may not suck the oil out of the pan.
It's a 440.Is it a bodies? If so check to see if you bent a pushrod. Lifter might have come out the block.
New pump never got pressure.Did you get oil pressure since installing the new pump? If not than yeah, it never primed so put maybe a teaspoon of white grease in the pump...
If it has had pressure since & lost prime it's sucking air somewhere..
I ordered one today.Make this a lot easier get a priming rod and drill spin it up and look for issues
Yea I use wixalso avoid using fram filters!!!
Wix, purolator or Napa is bestYea I use wix
I don't think so I had a aftermarket pan on it and it's about 1/2 inch deeper than the factory pan.is it possible the pick up is smashed tight to the bottom of the pan?

I used the stock pickup, I got the pan from 440 source it didn't come with one. But the pan was supposed to be identical to a stock pan. Lesson learned.doesn't the pan come with a matching pickup? with a specified clearance to the bottom of the pan? ie: 1/4 inch or so
This is where I would start. Do a bionic eye check of the pickup tube threads. And as stated, no thread sealant seems to be common mistake.Inspect the pickup tube and fluid path to the pump.. Anyplace it can suck air instead of oil, IE pickup tube not sealing to the threads in the block, missing gasket between the pump & block, Oil pickup tube screwed so tightly into block that the boss on the block cracked....
You previously lost pressure when the pump lost prime, there's a reason it's loosing prime, probably sucking air...
