Called Mancini and they told $330 for tapered axle bearings and they would have to order them, DR Diff has kits but I need just the bearings or bearings and seal kit, who has quality ones (Timkin or??, NOT chinesium) them at a decent price?

Doctor Diff sent me the wrong ones for my '64, even tho he had the proper info. I got Timkens to finish the job at a great price on Rockauto.

If you need shims....i have no source at all.

Thanks guys, ordered from Rock Auto. I do need to try and remember E-booger sells some good stuff on e-bay. The only part I don`t have is the foam gaskets, anyone have a source for them?

Never mind on the foam gaskets - 2 diff, 4 foam and 4 metal. I dug them out of my spare gasket box, sometimes it's good to be a spare parts collector/ hoarder.

Dr Diff had shims a few years ago....last time I bought any. On the 8 3/4, the only thing you need shims for is the pinion gear.

Im confoosed now....is he working on a 64 and back tapered axle setup?? The shims i was referring to are the axle side play shims (where 65 and later has the adjuster).

DrDiff DOES have pinion shim assortments.

Ok...never worked on a 64 and older 8 3/4 so that's new to me.

Weeeell, Timken bearings are different than ones for tapered axles from what I understand???
Yes indeed, they are similar but different. Can still be had tho, good ones. Timken makes them for both applications.

The bearing's part number is on the outer race (usually on the back side of the bearing cup) and the same applies for the cage assembly on the flange of the roller assemble also called the cone assembly. IMO...TIMKEN is is only bearing to consider. The seal assembly also has a part number stamped or printed on the metallic part of the assembly. CHICAGO Rawhide is a good brand. You could go to any industrial power transmission house.....it does not have to be an auto parts house.....Motion Industries or Dodge or International or Bearings Inc or RBC, or NTN or SKF are all good brand names. The power transmission houses can supply exactly what you need.......just my opinion and thoughts......
