Speedo broke! Argh!

I pulled out onto the road and all of a sudden the needle started bouncing all over the place. Eventually it quit and I heard a metal clinking sound behind the dash. Come to find out the peg that the needle presses onto is broke. Can this be repaired by chance? I already have another speedo coming, but if this one can be repaired and saved I'd like to do it.
