I tried to insert the cable end of the speedometer cable in the 727 trans and it seems like it will not fit...I know it needs to be tight but is there a trick or maybe wrong cable. I ordered the one for 65 b body 727 but not going in?

if you just put it in are both ends the same size?could be diff sizes and you have in backwards.

It can only go in one way, it's hard to get a visual on it due to exhaust pipes in the way. This is the one for 62 65 b body without auto pilot. The hole in the trans seems micro size to small and I am afraid to tap on it to hard, Why won't it go in?

Found this description for this cable:"New speedometer cable and housing for all 1964 Plymouth Belvedere - Fury - Savoy - Sport Fury; all 1964 Dodge Polara - 330 - 440; and all 1965 Belvedere - Coronet - Satellite. For use with all engines and transmissions. Includes O-ring + + + + "...

Anybody have similar problems with intall? how tight of fit should it be?

The plug should go right in till it hits the o-ring, then it should fit nice and tight so it won't leak. Try a little grease or silicone on the o-ring. It's hard to tell from pic but i'm wondering if the plug is the wrong size or the gear is stopping it.

Well I tapped on it on all sides and it went in with difficulty. got in past the o-ring and it stopped before all the way seated. No way it will come back out. It's at the trans shop now cuz I think I burned up the pump and/or the torque converter. I will have them check it out. I ordered another just in case they have to extract it.

Let Us Know How That New Adapter And Cable Works Out For You. I Had A Problem Getting The Right One To Fit On My '65 727!
