My speedometer has an issue. When I go forward, it'll go right to 150. When I go in reverse, it'll return to 0. I haven't had a speedo fail like this one. I'm assuming some internal spring let go?
Odometer works fine.
Has anyone had this issue and rebuilt it themselves? If not, can anyone recommend someone who can?

Thanks

I suggest finding a local shop that repairs and restores auto gauges and have them fix it.

I had the classic bouncing needle, after I got the speedo out of my car it was obvious that I would not be able to fix it. I found a shop 20 minutes away from me that did awesome work.

I think you are right about the hair spring breaking. If you learn what it is, please let us know.

Just got the cluster out. Looking at the speedo now. I'll try to keep you guys posted with what I find.

The issue wasn't the hairspring missing, but the tab that holds the spring. It broke loose, so the hairspring wasn't able to maintain any tension.
