Hey guys,

Well, recently both the speedometer and odometer quit on my 71 Roadrunner and I'm at a stand still on the repair. Thought I'd ask for some advice on how to fix this problem. I installed a new speedometer cable but the problem is still there and the odometer is still stuck on the same mileage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And you got the speedo cable fully engaged with the speedo head? If you are sure the cable is working then the problem may be in the speedo head itself. You can pull the cluster and use a drill to see if you get any movement. Or maybe have someone at the tranny end with a drill to see if it moves.

This.

If you can, remove the cable at the trans, see if you can turn the cable and turn the speedo.

If nothing happens, then the cable likely broke inside somewhere.

If you can easily get your cluster/speedo out, see if you can put a drill on it and spin the speedo manualy to see if it's working.
