Spot Weld/Plug Weld

In putting the new floors down, was wondering the pros/cons of this? I'm going to be plug welding them in, likely not as strong as the factory spot welds, but, what's the best way?

Plug weld, done right is a great weld. I'm working in the factory. Our spot welds are actually a comprormise between speed, and penetration. Dont question your work Donny!

Nothing wrong with a well executed plug weld...the real difference is the heat effect zone surrounding the plug weld...practice practice! 5/16" diameter right!

donny, ive seen pics of your cars that you work on.you have nothing to worry about with your plug weld.factories tried to get as many cars built in a day,whereas you can take your time on one car.just keep thinking the phrase (better than when it came from the factory)

Ditto, with the other high end projects you've taken on thus far, by no means should you be intimidated by plug welds Donny.... Like 66 said..."practice, practice."

Yes, thanks all! I too have been 100% sold on the Plug weld, but, recently I observed a builder replace part of a trunk pan b/c he wanted to keep the factory look of the factory spot welds, and, that part of the floor was a-ok. I'm sticking with my plug weld agenda, and yes, 5/16 is good call!
