Looking at converters for my car and came across one from "TSI" (3000-3400 stall) which is sprag-less. I know the sprag works like a ratchet, locks in one direction and unlocks in the other, and helps with shifts? What I don't know is if "sprag-less" is a good thing or a bad thing, or if it just depends on the application? The car is a 66 coronet, +.030 bore on a 400 block with hyd roller cam, mid .500 valve lift, alum heads (10.5-1 CR). Not a monster (by any means) but should be a good runner, but I have no idea as to whether I need/want a converter with a sprag or not? Any recommendation from the converter guru's will be appreciated.

When I talked to rep at Coan he told me to only go spragless if the plan was using the car for race only purposes.

Someone here may know more than me on the subject

I ran an 8" spragless once,, they're weird. Better for a high hp low weight dragster type deal.
5500, not sure if they make them in lower stalls

Would spragless be freewheeling when off the gas? So, no compression braking?
