The Air Tel used to be THE place to stay because other enthusiasts also stayed there. It was the parking lot gatherings that made the place fun.
The whole Covid scam messed it all up, the hotel was forced to take in the street bums for awhile and that ended up having a huge negative effect on the place. They closed for awhile as they disinfected the place, repaired damage and repainted. The restaurant and bar are still closed, there is no morning breakfast available, just a few stale donuts and coffee. They do have vending machines....yipee. They used to have an actual gate at the parking lot to keep out the riff raff. They did away with that.
For a few years, the rear parking lot was blocked off for renovations, making the social parking lot gatherings smaller.
They opened up the whole parking lot but it still needs resurfacing as it is rougher than the surface of the moon in several places....perfect for your restored classic!
The only reason that I have stayed there is because other people that I know still stay there.

Coast to Coast. Paying considerably more for Carlisle this year and Bay area here is nuts. Everything is $200 a night. Anything $139 is residential and scary.

Just made my reservation at BW in Sherman Oaks. $179, per night, plus extortion fees for two nights. No issues getting a room. And no parking lot off road course included.

We're down to 3 players in the hotel robbery business. In the LA area they use 'fires' as the excuse.

We're planning on the trek west again. Planning on digging deep for the hotel........

Thursday: Drive to LA. About 330 miles for me. Via 25, Grapevine. Or if already in LA vicinity, Peterson Museum on Wilshire near Perry Mason’s Office.
Friday: Malibu Cruise, then Bobs Big Boy in Burbank. Jammed/Killer.
Saturday: Show at Woodley Park. Then, Bob’s Big Boy, Northridge.
Sunday: Quick trip to Supercar Sunday in Woodland Hills before the Show. Just to annoy the Ferrari guys.
Monday: Drive home to San Jose via Reagan Ranch in Simi, and Ojai.

Been missing the Fling since 2022. Sounds like what’s left of the Canadien Crew from Nova Scotia may be coming this year. Other than not having the AirTel, may be a bumper year.
Some years we squeeze in a trip to Hollywood for benefit of the tourists there. Stop at Hooters or Hard Rock. There’s a parking deck nearby. Insane but a good glimpse.

Coronet’s been on lay up a lot. Hope it makes it. See you there.

In 2024 and 2025, I tagged along with Randy and his crew. Mary joined in with me since her brother Jeff lost his balls when he met the "professor" he married.

In 2025, Randy brought TWO Challenger convertibles, Rich and Maria brought the Coronet. Carl was there in his wagon.

Since years ago, it is the PEOPLE that make these shows fun. The cars are great, I love them but with the car guys to chat with, it is a lot more fun.
