hello folks
Have a 71 charger SE
When I turn the steering wheel, there’s a loud squeaking noise coming from the steering wheel(see pic of where sound is coming from).

Anyone know if the steering wheel can be adjusted to inhibit squeaking? Worst idea I have is to file the inner metal ring.

Not too sure about the history of the car. Column could be warped????

A lot of times the horn contact will squeak when turning the wheel. Also there's a bearing on the shaft under the steering wheel that could be dry.

I think I’ll have to take the steering wheel off and inspect the area.

Ps
Although the car only has a 318, it’s nasty loud. Dogs in my neighborhood either cower under their porch or bull rush my car yipping and howling.
