Stalled,Sold,Just unfinished

Sometimes wait times can be lengthy for body work or engine work. Also the build can be directly linked to the quality or funds available. In my case sometimes burnout, of just other priority's. But Justin does his best to help us all. :praying: For example I spent almost 2 months getting the right pulleys, brackets, & belts for my build. Order, wait a week, wrong part, reorder, repeat.

Not sure if you got to mine !
But broken back , two back surgery s ,and now a baby any day now !!!! I go look at my car time to time ! I'm glad I atleasat bought that shed/garage for it, best $3k ever safe and secured!

I'm told once baby is here and I'm done fixing house stuff I can bring it back into main garage and get it up on the rotisserie finally!

Not to hijack but on a side note, Dennis H and I are shipping our cars to Biomedtechguy next Sept in order to participate in Crusin the Coast 2019. We will then DRIVE them home. Look for us if you attend.

Family and money are the big priorities over cars so I can easily see how projects get put on the back burner.

I'm single so I slammed through mine in a little over a year, plus I just wanted a driver so it wasn't as $$$ intensive as it could have been. I still update every now and again as I replace or upgrade parts but I am burning plenty of gasoline :)

As much as I enjoy working on my car, sometimes the priorities & the distractions of life get in the way. Family has always come first. My mistake, at least for me anyway, was tearing her down years ago. Looking back, I wish I’d have done it sections, so I could of enjoyed both working on it, while also driving it, without extended periods of down time.....

Keep me updated. The wife and me follow biotech to mopars at the battleship this year. It was amazing. Got to watch him beat up on some mustangs.

My plan with mine when I get to it is to get it driving first. Then fix the body.

I'm trying to go this year to look around. So close to me. Never been.

Just over 3 weeks to go!!
In the next 3 weeks, outside of the scheduled work I have to do, plus any calls for service I may get, I have to:
Install and tune the 3 Rochester 2bbl carbs I just got restored by All American Carburetors on my wife's 421.
Hopefully Promax will get my 3 Holley 2bbl carbs back to me soon, loaded with Promax parts. Then I need to install and tune them.
I am having a trusted shop install the Wilwood front disc brake system and the UMI rear suspension parts and the Quick Performance 9" Ford based rear axle assembly, which they are still building, in her GTO. Then I have to take a number of "rides" around me to heat cycle the new rear end so it is ready to go to the coast.
I may have oil and filter changes to do, gotta check that.
Hopefully get power hooked up at the lot in Waveland so we don't have to run the generator.
Put up an outdoor awning thing so we can empty the large dog kennel.
Maybe get my bench seat replaced with these beauties:

Time is relative, depends on your situation
some projects get back burner-ed too
family, life &/or money, or bad stuff happening
can derail a project in a heartbeat

it ain't for the faint of heart
not the cheapest either

good luck everyone

Sometimes folks just migrate away from the site, too.
Something happens they don't like here or they get spooked or who knows?
Heck, I dang near had a stalker recently here. Kept wanting to know exactly where I was,
even invited me to meet them at their semi rig - at night!
Jeebus… welcome to my blocked list, dude.
It might have been all on the up and up, but that ain't the way to make friends and influence people.
I even went back and changed a lot of my settings on here and removed a bunch of stuff I'd posted in
the past to try and shore up the "privacy", least as much as is possible on such a site.
Just gave me the willies, ya know?

I've had a series of mini project threads on this section or that section of the car, never just one great
big long continuous one. Those, along with the "garage" I have, all add up to what's been done I guess.
Money woes, life events, medical issues, family matters all cause projects to sputter, stall, pick back up.
If there's one thing I have learned in my decades of playing with old cars, it was to get the money in order
first, have a budget and stick to it best you can from the get-go.
I actually pulled a loan that was used to buy the car and get it to reasonable daily driver condition this time.
Took a lot of the sputtering out of things.

As far as these projects themselves, some of them just go on forever like mine.
It'll never be "done-done". I know that now. Always fooling with the thing.
If you count from the time it was plucked from a field, it's been in progress for a dozen years now!
Reckon that's why it's called a "hobby".

I'm coming. Thursday/Friday. In a borrowed 67 Fairlane. I know. Don't take my mopar card.

Have you happen to reach out to some in their threads?

From time to time I bump some of the slackers in their threads......lol...jk

As another stated a lot of things change quickly in life and then things get prioritized.........
I thought we got rid of the Jackstand Racing League with the departure of ssruhh????
Maybe I have a chance to catch up!!!

That's a spiffy stand you got there
Ya I figured it would be nice to mock everything up on the new k member and later just lower the car down on all of it, install the radiator , connect fuelines make a couple of electeical connections and presto, one step closer to getting off of the jackstands!

Looking over all the posts the number 1 answer is MONEY with FAMILY a close second. It took 10 years to do our 65.Still have small things to finish up.Guess they are never really done. But I can jump in and drive it now. Our 63 project that sat in pieces for 40 years got a big leap ahead 3 years ago but is again sitting because of MONEY. The plan is made and engine assembly is going on now. More parts have been found and bought and soon the drive train will be installed. Now if I can only find time to do the maintenance on the house life would be just fine.......

My hobbies take a back seat to maintenance on farm equipment.
Only after every truck, tractor combine ect is serviced and deemed worthy for another year does the Coronet come out of hibernation and become the shop ornament for a few weeks. Usually the month of Feb.
Then it's find what you need, order it, wait a few days, figure out what else, wait ect.
Last year I stalled on the wiring harness. Converting a over to a Rally Dash. I decided it's best to remove the frame and assemble everything then reinstall. I did not wish to remove the windshield quite yet so I put her away for another 11 months.
Also finding the proper P/S for a RB car and shifter linkage for a floor shifted TF stalled me.

Switching from a 318/904 to a 440/TF may look simple on paper but their are a few curveballs in the process.

When I get discouraged I just look at what I have;

A nice Car with zero rust/really straight body lines and a good paint job. Also the interior (although not in the car because I removed it is mostly original and very nice and clean) I have the motor/trans installed, just need to finish. I told myself when I started I wasn't going to half-*** it.
Right there is 75% of the effort done.

There are a few details such as modernizing the A/C and installing the RamCharger setup that may not get completed until a few years down the road. I figure both of those will add a total of $4k to a project that I already have $30k+ involved in. Not counting time.

My biggest problem with mine is space. Shop isn't big enough for my project and be able to do the side line hustle. Money is tied for first with space thou.
