Hi all,

Looking for input on starter removal / installation with Doug's 1.75 inch headers. I have a new big, huge, gear reduction starter and will be installing the headers within the next month or so. If I can use the existing starter without it being a huge PITA, great. if not, I have no problem in picking up one of the smaller units. Also, which of the mini starters work / fit the best? I've read mid-90s - 2000 Dodge Dakota with 5.2 but wanted to confirm. I already have the terminal relocation kit.

Thanks,
Mikey

Grab this... this one comes with the adapter to move the terminals away from the block (which is an issue in some cases) Also won't sound like the old gear reduction starter.

I have found that on low deck motors I have to remove the terminal extension/repositioner as it puts the cables too close to the block. I remove it and then bolt the cables directly to the original two lugs. You can still use the little plastic protector thing too if memory serves….

This was my experience on a 383 and on a 440 I had to order the adapter.
