Hello all. I recently had a freeze plug start leaking on my 67 Coronet 440 with the 318. I the process of replacing it I found that the block had a lot of gunk in it.

I got some Prestone Total Cooling System Cleaner to use. When the car heated up aftyer putting it in steam started coming up through the vents in the cowl. Since then when I run the car soon as it gets warm this happens.

This is not an AC car and I replaced the heated core about 12 years back. That time the carpet was wet from the anti-freeze leaking from the heater core. Currently the carpet is still dry. For now I removed the heater hoses from the firewall and used a tube to put them together.

Not sure what is causing this and thought I would ask for your input. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Yup... Heater core was junk before the flush... Crud was sealing the pinholes... Flush removed the crud, now the heater core is leaking....

Definate anti-freeze smell. Know of a video for replacing the heater core in this car?

The factory service manual helps. It’s actually not too hard in a b-body. You remove your heater box and it’s right there & easy to replace

I have heard that putting pepper in the coolant will stop up pin holes. Anyone tried this?

Don’t do it, that’s a temporary fix at best. Cooling system stop leak generally causes more issues than it fixes.

I don't have the coolant running through the heater core anyway. I will get a new one and put it in later.

Ginger from your wife's kitchen cabinet will stop the leak. Probably a teaspoon or so. Just get the heater core repaired.
