Looks like the two bolts (arrows) on the coupler - then any interior bolts and that's it ? Also noticed the "clover leaf" (X) shaped rubber bushing in the coupler is cracked to pieces - where can I get a replacement and what's the correct name for the part ? I'm an A body guy and am used to driving out the pin (circled) to remove the column - this looks a little easier.

A little research - this is referred to as the rag joint -correct ?

Drive the pin and pull entire column......carefully so it doesn't colapse. It's easier to fix on a flat surface. NO HAMMER. There is plastic foam in the column. If they have that rag joint for $84 buy it. Will probably be out of stock. Took me 5 months to find one. They do not repo them, some have used 2 of the H.E.L.P. kits in Auto Zone, NAPA but they are all rubber(no metal plate) but if it goes, kiss your car goodby. Total loss of steering. There is supposed to be a metal can(heat shield) around the joint, not showing on yours.

Thanks - heat shield id slid up next to the firewall for the pic. I was looking (and reading) about the Flaming River U-joints. Couldn't find any posts where anyone has had them installed and have been pleased over time. I understand they allow no" cushion" whatsoever, so vibration would be an issue, as well as solid mount gives zero flex and can strain column sections and pump shaft as well. I'll check with Bouchillon tomorrow as mine are wasted on the RR and my Satellite.

The correct part number for a '73 is 3575303. I tried to order off several different sites that had it listed only to get a not in stock when I completed the order. There is a guy, in AZ if I remember correctly, that has them for $149. Check all Dodge/Chrysler parts dept in your area, you may just get lucky.

Another alternative is get a '74 column. The rag joint is near the firewall above the coupler, not below the coupler like on the '73. Also, the '74 rag joint "may" be the same as the '73 but not sure. Heat from the headers is what kills them.

Unless you make the k frame rigid, I would rethink the stainless joint. The purpose of the rag is to absorb the flex from the k.

I agree - gonna be a driver anyway. I see your in the OP - I'm in St Augustine myself. Think I saw your Charger at the Mandarin (Food Lion) cruise a time or two ?

Yep, that was me. Been too hot lately so I have been taking my SRT8. Here is a pic from Saturday.

I agree - brutal heat. That's one reason I'm not making good progress on the dash swap - waaaayyy too hot ! I'll add some pics of my cars eventually, got them scattered around town right now (no room here) !

If anybody finds one - let me know - I haven't had any luck, yet.

Mine's in about 4-5 pieces, not safe, I may have to push the button and pay the price if nothing turns up soon. They simply aren't to be found right now.

Now I see why it's so expensive - Frank Mitchell - thought he was history. Has a rep for asking wayyyy too much.
