x2 - bought mine a year ago - Japanese engine, runs great, and makes enough noise to piss the neighbours off.I bought an echo gas trimmer few years back and love it, not a fan of the electric. Not much power and the battery does not last long enough

ECHO!! The best, hands down. They last a very long time and are extremely reliable...
I too have an Echo gas trimmer. Mine is also ancient. In at least twenty years the only thing I've ever done is replace the spark plug, once.
I was nervous about it this spring since I left fuel in it all winter, primed it and fired right up on the 2nd pullx2 - bought mine a year ago - Japanese engine, runs great, and makes enough noise to piss the neighbours off.![]()
X2 I went electric also but I don't do more than 20 minutes of trimming. Be aware that you will be buying a new battery eventually. I do like not messing with mixed gas.I went the other way & bought an electric one. All my edge trimming is light duty & I'm done in less than 15 minutes. But if you have heavier stuff to cut, yes, go with a gas engine.
I've had an echo gas trimmer, dislike the spool feeder. Went on to a shil gas auto feeder much better. Next will be a Billie goat....
