Hey Guys;

I've just got a quick question for any of you that either have a stroker engine in your car or have experience with them. Do you find that they are "noisier" (not exhaust note but mechanical) when they're running than a standard performance rebiuld? I've got almost 2000 miles on my engine and it runs great but just seems to make more noise than I'd like.

Thanks.

All of mine had loud exhaust & roller cams, headers, looser with more clearances, when assembled for racing apps, etc, so I didn't notice any more noise, that I was use too... If the engine is assembled properly & with the correct clearances everywhere, a 500+ci engine or not, it shouldn't be any noisier {except exhaust note maybe a little lower, gruntier}, unless it's a 700ci engine with lots of clearances, for large expanding parts, solid flat tappet or solid roller lifter, large tube headers, large tube exhaust or something along those lines... a 500ci Caddy engine was quite as a mouse still, I know that's a GM, but you get my drift, I hope.... That's my opinion anyway

I agree with bud. I will say though I have about 3k on my 496 stoker. (383 block) and went to a .588 lift solid roller cam and that makes the whole valvetrain make some noise for sure compared to the old hydraulic one. Just the nature of the beast.

I've built a few 416 small blocks. None of them made abnormal noise. One was a solid lifter motor but still, that was not abnormal. The cubic inch displacement, stroker or not, does not dictate a noisy engine....unless it is assembled with race bred tolerances.

360/408 here, engine purrs except for the cam lope, which is just noticeable enough to be... noticed like it should be. :grin:

No. Makes no more noise then any other eng. I run a solid flat tappet cam. Could it be piston slap you hear as some pistons run alot of wall clearence depending on what kind of pistons you used ? Course piston slap is louder when the eng is cold. Ron
