Strut arm bushing replacement

I would like to replace my strut arm bushings on my 1969 and I'm able to remove the nut on the front of arm on the K frame side and also the nut on the lower control arm side. I can spin the strut arm although it has resistance but I'm not sure which side it comes out or if it does. I'm guessing the lower control arm may have to be removed but I'm not sure. Can someone help me with the proper procedure to remove the strut on so I can replace the bushings? I'm hoping that this can be done without removing the lower control arm but I'm guessing that's not likely. Thank you in advance
 
Arm need to go back for clearance to get the strut end out.
 
What does that mean? Will it go back the lower control arm without removing the arm?
The arm needs to slide back. That means everything attached to it needs to be removed, the torsion bar unloaded and slid back, then the lower arm pivot nut removed and the arm slid back.

No. Unfortunately you'll have to unload the torsion bars, remove the nut holding the Lower Control Arm into the K frame, and move the LCA back.

That being said, is the back of the strut rod bushing toast (its 2 pieces)? If not, wait until you need to replace the LCA bushing or ball joints.

That's what I was thinking, thanks for confirming. And I agree I'll probably just wait at this point.
