May cut a deal on a running 440 rv engine. Keep in mind I'm all about rebuilding my original 440 to keep the car "numbers matching" so to speak. My question is ... Anything unusal about swapping an rv engine out to the car with my torqueflight?? Any hook up issues I get to experience?

oh... let me back up
my car is a
67 R/T
440
Torqueflight
with 2:93 gear

I'm simply using this engine so my car doesnt sit for a year and I get the "imagonnas" waiting for time and money to rebuild.

A 2.94 isn't stock in an RT. Did you stick it in there? The motor home engine will have low compression but a cam that raises cylinder pressure a bit. I'd do a compression test on it before buying it. The oil pan will be different for sure. The rest of it should hook up ok.....

The water pump may also be different. What's wrong with your engine??Why would it take you so long to redo yours and slam it back in??

nope ...no swap original to the car. What "should" be in it? I've heard something like 3:23??? am I close?
The swap motor will be temporary but I will check the compression, assuming that compression is due to efficiency for the motor home???

it's simply matter over money. I'll go in replace the floor pans, clean and seal the bottom, remove the fenders and repaint the wells and engine bay, put the donor engine in, replace the fenders and drive it while I redo the body and then paint. Once I'm happy with interior and the body...I'll rebuild the original engine.... swap that back into the car.

Believe me, I've "waited till I had time" on a 65 SS Chevelle...took me 6 years to finish it. I won't do it that way again.

The RV engine may have a cast crank, so you will have to either get a converter with a weight or use the RV converter. Other than that no issues. Of course you will strip off all the late model accessories and use the 67 stuff. If it runs and checks out well I'd replace the freeze plugs and maybe the timing chain, shoot a coat of your favorite engine color and go cruising.

Always good to have a back-up bullet:grin:

Yeah I did that with the Mach I and guess what.... I got to drive it for 2 years until I finished the engine... guess who was a happy camper ...YEP
I figure it will take me at least 6-10 months to finish the body work. She doesnt look bad but I'll never lock one up again "waiting for that special day"
Body on this car is pretty decent so should go well and that back up bullet will come in handy
