I've tried this twice and ultimately it's worked out. But both times, the service reps are rude and seem to try to find ways to deny the request.
For example, today I found an item on Walmart.com for a price a lot less than Summit. So I called and said I found a better price at Walmart.com. The rep asked for the Walmart item number. I gave it to him. Long pause... then "can I put you on hold?" Comes back and says yeah, I can match that price. I said "match?" Your policy says it will "Beat" any price. He said, semantics in a rude tone followed by, buddy! are we going to do this or not? In the end, he ended up giving it to me for $1.00 dollar less.
As I recall, this was the a similar experience I had last time I tried this. So what is it? If it is company policy, why do they act so cranky and rude about it? And more importantly, why do I put up with this to save a buck?
Anyone else have a similar experience?
