I picked up a 74 with a 4 speed Hurst and bench seat. I really want buckets and picked up a set of restorable ones and also want to add a center console. I have a few questions:
1. Is this pretty much as easy as just removing the bench and bolting the buckets (After drilling holes and welding plates for strength) for the seats?

2. What neeeds to be done to mount console? More holes to drill?

3. I understand that there are 2 different shifters - one for bench seats and the other for buckets with console. Can I just bolt on the different handle or do I need to replace the entire assembly?

4. I see that there are different carpet sets sold - one for bench and the other for buckets. Is there any reason that the existing carpet (bench) won't work for buckets with console? Are there any mods that I'll have to make?

5. I see a couple different sellers who sell the vinyl and foam to reupholster the seats. Is there any to stay away from and / or anyone that I should buy from?

Thanks in advance!

There are two different shifter setups.
Bench seat/ Buckets with buddy seat
Buckets with or without console. Same as E-body
They take different tunnel humps and carpet.
Also different shifter handles, rods and mounts.
Console will not work with the bench seat setup.
Console mounts are welded to the tunnel

Replaced the bench seat with buckets 72 RR/GTX 4 speed. Floor should be dimpled where holes will need to be drilled for buckets and no under floor sopports are required. Shifter and handle still works fine and do not interfere with movement of seats. Console will not fit as stated in above post.

Thanks! Does anyone know where I can get a set of Buddy Seat Mounts? I guess I'll be going that route.

Here is the bucket hump and the bench hump.
Also buckets had supports plate on top of the floor. E-body has them on the bottom side of the pan.

Buddy seat mounts are fairly simple.

You could fab them if you had to.

They are also used on 75-79 B body (like Cordoba) and very similar mounts (and buddy seats) were used on F/M/J and even some FWD cars.
