i got an OEM front sway bar for this car.... it didn't have one on it before the restoration started....

but i swapped the 318 out for a BB 400... and the sway bar i got just doesnt seem to connect.. even though the seller swears it came off of a '73 B body.

can someone post a pic of their front OEM sway bar? we just can't exactly figure out why its not fitting.. it goes through the K-Frame fine. But it just doesnt seem to really bolt up to anywhere on the ends where the holes are.

thanks in advance.. i searched and couldn't really find anything that was helpful in this scenario.

Did you change the torsion bars? the car may be squatting and now out of position

i have the same question as gtxno1
how much of the suspension did you have apart?
there is a proper procedure for reassembly
and setting the ride height is the first step before tightening up anything.
if you don't follow it you will seat bushings in the wrong place and twist stuff up..

Gentleman,
You need to make sure you have the correct k-frame that has the corner pieces for the connections for the down links, and the ends of the sway bar attach to the strut rods with a bracket. 318 cars didn't come with the corner pieces in the k-frame, so if it was changed for big block then you should be ok, but if its a 318 k-frame it may not have this piece. See the attached photos.

Also your 73 chassis service manual will show the connections in section 2. You can down load one from here if you don't have one. I see the Plymouth on isn't available, but the dodge one for 73 is, and looking on page 2-11, the diagram at the bottom of the page is the same as the Plymouth one. This should make it clear how its setup!

Take some pictures of what you have going on for us will make life easier to figure out the problem

Thanks to all who answered, I changed the torsion bars... but used the k frame from the 318....and used the motor mount swap for the job. so I think idrivemopar is correct. The corner pieces aren't on the 318 k-frame. Is this something that i can mod? Or buy as an add-on..? I'm going to check around in the morning and see what I can find.

You cant buy the missing pieces for the drop down connections, you can however, fabricate a set and weld them in, or replace the k-frame with one that already has them, or cut them out of another k-frame and weld them in.
