The 1973 Grand Am paint is finally done. Love it.

It came out great. We slapped the rebuilt 455 in already. My mom brought home a new '73 Grand Am 455 when I was 16. She's 90 now and still driving.

When I was a kid working in the grocery store one of the managers had a silver one. I sill remember the long hood.

They made several cars off this platform but the Grand Am was the top dog. The nose cone was a new idea. Most cars in '73 had a huge front bumper. This has a bumper connected to shocks and that nose would collapse and snapback. The car was supposed to be the new GTO but they upgraded it to the Grand Am and the GTO became the lessor model.

A friend had one back in the seventies. I think his was a ‘76. It had a standard transmission. The only standard version I ever saw. Had to be rare. Wish I had it, now.

They made them for 1973 through 1975. In 73 and 74 you could get a 4 speed but only with the 400 cid. 455's had to be automatics.

It was yellow with white top and interior. Even worse.

That paint job is stupendous!
