It was on TNT, CBS & CBSSN, NFL Network,
1 game a week on -www- Bleacher Report
I never watched on Bleacher Report,
when I can watch on a 55" wide screen vs a little phone or computer screen
why ? would I want to...
I think it's eminent if they don't fix the front/head/league office **** 1st
from the stuff I read, sources that I actually trust
(none of which are
CBS related)
the league it hasn't folded
yet
it's head/front/league office disagreements/squabbles
& funding $$$$
one guy committed/promised an endowment of $270,000,000
then now he wanted to bail after $70,000,000
did he se some writing on the wall ?
after he already committed $70,000,000
now he's pulling the plug ?
I don't know the inside scoop, I highly doubt anyone here does either
It was a bunch of former players, as GM's & head/league office too
did they get scared or just not know ****, in over their heads ?
I don't know ?
I'm not a huge hater of these start up leagues either
none of which seems to last
NFL should just fund it as a developmental league, eat the losses
take some of the exorbitant profits from the larger media market areas
& use it as a farm (or like a B) league
like baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. etc. etc. all do...
Like it was intended to be...
To get more experience for developing, the Owners (
most were all new to it)
officials/refs, players & coaches, office staff, Management, dr.'s etc. etc. etc.
get a handle on head office development, staff management development,
& player personnel development etc.
all more actual real &/or more game time &/or real world experiences
It's not the NFL,
even if 80% of the players are former NFL players
every league that's been started has failed, because it's not done right
it's not a profit maker, it's supposed to be developmental league
second chances league, a career & resume' builder league
I had read
The Union/NFLPA got involved & it went to **** immediately
not sure what they were thinking ?
I think they thought it would help them, not kill them...
It's not the best game, but it has it's merits
I could see it being a viable league if one as it was intended,
not just a for profit league (
taking all the funds off the top, of the TV contracts)
when it could be used to get players developed properly
& to see who has actual talent instead of just giving the rookies
giving them millions after the draft...
I don't care for the no kick offs BS, placing the ball on the 25 y/l
or no extra points, except mandatory 2 point conversions
or the no blitzing,
or defenses only able to be rushing 5 defensive players
or a constant running clock until the 2:00 min. warning
the games went at a good pace, still 60 min's of play, in 2 to 2.5hrs
not 3.5 to 4+ hrs like the regular NFL
There is/was some good from it...
I watched a lot, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the games
it was more of a defensive league
(
than offensive game like their big NFL brothers)
Orlando & Coach Spurier were doing well
Birmingham was doing relatively well
I thought the Az. Hotshots & Salt Lake City Stallions
were both also starting to get a decent game/team going to
They didn't have any kneelers on the sidelines
