The best inflatable raft?

How about a canoe? Get a set of portage pads so you can put it up on your shoulders and away you go. look for something like a used alum Grumman or alumacraft.

That's a dandy blue gill by the way, awesome!

Thanks Dave, pretty tasty too! I guess the only think that keeps me venturing from a canoe is I was looking at using a raft for multiple uses. Not as depicted in John K's wonderful post, but using the raft to hit up small lakes, as well as use for a bit of whitewater rafting on a couple wild rivers nearby. I do have a couple 14' Kayak's I use quite frequently for backwoods fishing, but dragging those a mile or two through the woods tends to be a real pain sometimes. Just looking to pack light, tread easy you know.

Really enjoyed your description of the fishing trip Will. Brought back lots of memories of trying to do the manly job of fishing with poor quality tools, plus memories of fishing in the Lakewood area. Had a great laugh, thank you.

Good deal! I know Lakewood pretty well. Drive through it every time I head up to my land. My older sister lived in Townsend for quite some time. Up the road about 5 Min. from Lakewood. Lotta lakes, lotta forest, lots to do! Nice area.
