The last time it sounded real serious and counter legislation was proposed and a web petition organized.

Never heard what became of that but looks like it didn't happen.

Well the actual/true "real" science hasn't changed
in 100+ years

their scam of global warming/climate change
(to normal people that don't/won't sercum or buy that BS)

We had a disgraceful episode here about 5 yrs back. Car show, proceeds collected went to a charity. Cops were waiting for 'modified' cars when the show ended. One guy got booked because his interior light wasn't working.....
Many of these cars were from the 50s & 60s, had drum brakes, small tyres etc. Upgraded with modern parts that actually made them safer than when they left the showrooms...

This comes to light again as the big
push to an EV is gaining momentum.
2030/2035 (7-12 years) from present
day will see the big three producing
only EV's. Anything and everything
will be used as a weapon to see that
the transition happens at it's greatest
rate.
Those that can't afford this rapid
transition will be forced to public
transportation.
What I forsee happening is every
town/city in the US will require
emissions testing (passed thru
congressional legislation). Failure
to comply will result in massive
withholding of federal dollars to the
states. There's really no other way
to enforce these policies.
There's no better place to start this
process but on vehicles caught with
factory emission devices overridden
via aftermarket parts. Even Summit
racing was hit with a fine (though
considered small @ 600k). Break
the law, and your car is impounded,
heading for the crusher.
The big three who produce
performance enhancing goodies
will gladly give up those enterprises
with less overhead, fewer employees,
and much higher prices for new cars
and replacement parts, plus huge
handfuls of that government pie.
The heart of America, the automobile.
There's not a single item that defines
us better.
I'll turn my ICE vehicles into yard art
before I give them up.
